Robert Polidori Biography
Montreal born, New York based photographer Robert Polidori is widely considered one of the most important photographers working today. His interest in cultural evidence expressed through habitat has lead to extensive photographic series of Chernobyl, Versailles, Havana and New Orleans. Polidori captures the vestiges that evoke the essence of each setting and its particular meaning, as framed by economic, historical, geographic, political and social forces.
Museum collections include the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Museum of Modern Art in New York; the L.A. County Museum of Art, Los Angeles and the Bibliotheque National, Paris. Books by Steidl include Havana, After the Flood and Versailles (forthcoming).
